An un-numbered and un-signed FIVE Pound Banknote for Barry & Nephews of Swellendam and Cape Town dated for the 1850's. Slight water damage to the bottom of the Note but otherwise Very Fine.

Here we have an example of a Note which was NOT actually placed into circulation.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- In small print under the classical "FIVE" are noted the Printers who were......Royston & Brown, Sc, LONDON  HARD STEEL PLATE. An extemely attractive item. Please look closely at the photo, maybe that small amount of water damage is not quite so bad........considering the price.
