Here we have a cheque drawn on the UNION BANK, Overprinted in red, on a form printed for the SOUTH AFRICAN BANK. Cheque No.08448 and dated July 25th 1890. In the sum of Four Pounds.

You can see from the photo that the Cheque Form has an Overstamp Impression to the Top Centre......Note also the Wording......" Cape of Good Hope Saving's Bank Society".
"Quartermaster's Comment":- Michael Kaplan gave this item a good going over and pronounced that it had 2 Spike Holes but was otherwise Extra Fine. It was printed by Van de Sandt de Villiers & Co. Cape Town.
