JAN SMUTS CHRISTMAS TIN WITH GREETINGS TO THE TROOPS.
E-mail
We think that the idea was that everyone "Up North" would get this tin of 'Goodies' as a Christmas Present..... for 1940. On the inside flap it has printed "With Best Wishes from The South African Gifts and Comforts Committee, Christmas 1940". "Quartermaster's Comment":- I quizzed Michael as to what was in the tin, but he was not sure. Probably a Card and of course cigarettes. As you can see from the photo....this Tin has seen better days....(Not surprising seeing as how it is the same age as the Quartermaster!!!!) It does however come to you priced accordingly.
