"Quartermaster's Comment":- He spent the war in S.A. as a Camp Guard. His War and Defence medals are absent. He was born on the 12th of August 1902. He put himself in as a Plasterer and Painter. He appears to have been an Orphan as he gave his address as "Guardian of Children", Sister Superior, St Cross's Orphange, 342, Loop Street, Pietermaritzburg. He is recorded as having been posted as a Pte. to CATD V/H. on 30-1-40. Not surprising that he stayed in South Africa for the duration......He was around 38. Finally discharged on the 24/10/1946.
