GROUP OF FIVE TO A LEADING SEAMAN, GUN LAYER 1ST CLASS, R. N.
E-mail
We have here a very well documented and researched group of five medals for World War Two to JX234871 Leading Seaman WILLIAM DEVLIN who was trained up to be a Gun Layer First Class.
As you can see from the Pictures, our man served to gain both the Atlantic and Pacific Stars as well as those for 39/45 and Italy. So along with his War Medal his Service covered a good bit of 'Ocean'!!!!
"Quartermaster's Comment":- The Group comes with three very complete pages of research; whose sources are noted as 'Wikpedia' and www.royalnavy.mod.uk.
We are also able to include FOUR photos, one of which is a 'Post Card' of his friends in a crew he was serving with at that time. While the other pictures give us little to go on, the group of Three notes Amsterdam 1945 S.S. Zypenberg.
William Devlin was born at Glasgow on the 1st of April 1918. He joined the Navy in 1940 and was trained on H.M.S. Collingwood. In the Post Card Group he is noted as being in the Back Row, First Left.
The research gives a lot more detail on the photos with notes by his son who explained that his Dad spent the War as Gunner on D.E.M.S., Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships.
We cannot include the full 'War Story' here......but if anyone needs same........please contact your Quartermaster.
While the medals are un-named as issued they come with there original box for delivery along with enough information to show their story as being completely genuine. They must be fairly priced.
