AN AFRICA STAR GROUP OF 4 NAMED MEDALS TO THE CAPE CORPS.
Here we have a Group of Medals to a Member of the Indian and Malay Corps. The 13 Pages of Photostats that we have from the Pretoria Records Office confirm that we have his FULL entitlement.
The 39/45 Star, The Africa Star, The War Medal and the Africa Service Medal to M 15717 P. ODENDAAL all have New Ribbons.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- PHILLIP ODENDAAL served with both 3 and 5 C.C.
He disembarked at Suez on the 22nd of August 1941. Somehow he stayed in the South African Army until the 20th of February 1946.........Serving for a total of 4 Years and 285 Days. We have to report that during his years of service Private Odendaal was NOT the best of Soldiers.........He always seemed to be getting into trouble. He was charged 5 times and his 'Crime Sheet' indicates that what with being Confined to Barracks.........being AWOL, (Three Days).........and 10 Days LWOP.........He was not the best soldier on the Force!!!!!!..........He finally left........it being noted that he was "Suffering from Defective Vision".........Maybe he hit the Cane Spirit just a bit too often!!!!!.......Still Michael has put his Medals in as being in Extra Fine Condition. The 13 Pages of Records make for interesting reading. |
