E-mail
Richard Christian KASTRUP was older than most when he joined up, being born back on the 10th of July 1891. He had the interesting job of looking after 'Gifts and Comforts' in the General Service Corps.
His Four Medals......39/45 Star, Africa Star, War Medal and Africa Service Medal are noted by Michael as being in Extra Fine Condition. They have been mounted up for wear and are named 251029 R. C. KASTRUP.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- We have Five Pages of Photostat Documents on him from The Records Office in Pretoria. He was married and came from Auckland Park in Johannesburg. He arrived by air at Nairobi on the 14th of June 1941......having Attested on the 20th of August 1940. His Records note him as having served in Kenya, Somaliland and Abyssinia. Sadly he was found Medically unfit on the 6th of January 1942....(Class E).....Nevertheless here we have a Group to someone who served as an Officer in an interesting position.
