While our man attested into the SATC...which never had a tank!! He was trained for Armoured Cars at Kafferskraal.

As you can see from the photo...The Group of four is made up of the 39/45 Star...The Africa Star...The War and Africa Service Medals. They are named to 225657 A.G.HAWKINS
"Quartermaster's Comment":-  We have Photostats of Eight Cards of Records for him. He served with the 5th Armoured Car Regiment and their 5th Recce Bn......which did excellent work in the Desert.
He must have enjoyed service life because at the end of the War he transfered into the South African Air Force. He was finally discharged on the 13th of March 1946.
