From the Copies of Five of his 'Cards' we see here that 214383 W. BRUWER. joined the South Afican Tank Corps.
We have it here that Willem Bruwer, who came from Port Elizabeth was chosen to be a Private in the South African Tank Corps, which never had a Tank but did outstanding work in Armoured Cars!!!!
"Quartermaster's Comment":- He was sent for training at Kafferskraal on the 6th of January 1941. He left for the Middle East on the 9th of June 1941 from Durban on the S.S. "Isle de France", arriving at Suez on the 20th. From there he joined the 7th Recce Bn., which later did amazing work into the Desert behind enemy lines.
For various reasons he was boarded......Perineal Abcess is noted......on the 9th of September 1941 and returned to the Union. So we have here a short lived set of four medals with the Africa Star to a 'short-lived' man in a very fine unit.
