Sadly his War Medal is lacking. We are told that this happened many times when families were in poverty during the recession; the War Medal was sold off for its silver value.

Michael has graded these two medals as being in at least 'Very Fine' Condition.
"Quartermaster's Comment":-  His Star is named to him as 2141  PTE. J. RUSSELL  R.  HIGHS. and his Victory Medal is likewise named .
On his card it notes that Joseph Russell started as a Private in the Royal Highlanders but later was with the Number 25561 in the Machine Gun Corps.
Even with the War Medal missing this pair cannot be expensive at the price,
