This medal came out in 1902 when things were very busy for British Troops in Africa. "Quartermaster's Comment":- This medal remained in use for 54 years!!!! It is the longest running British Service Medal, yet the last and only one for EIIR was for KENYA and the Mau-Mau problems there.

This is the version with the 'Tudor Crown' which was issued between 1954 and 1980. "Quartermaster's Comment":- It is the DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D. Version. We are told that the idea was that only 150 of these medals were to issued in any one year. It was highly prized in the British Colonial Police Service. You had to be a pretty clean and tidy policeman to get it!!!!
