MINIATURE COLONIAL POLICE SILVER LONG SERVICE MEDAL.
E-mail
Refer to the Medal Year Book No. 274 for this Long Service Medal which came out in 1934.
The Medal Year Book confirms that this medal came out in the reign of King George the V for all Colonial Police Forces.......so that Good and Long Service could be properly acknowledged. Here we have a Miniature example for IND IMP.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- The Year Book tells us that it was originally awarded to Junior Officers who had completed 18 years of exemplary service but latterly awarded to ALL Police Officers of ALL ranks who have the required service qualification. A BAR is awarded at 25 years of Service and a further BAR after 30 years have been served. These Bars are represented on the Ribbon Bar in 'Working Dress' with Silver Rosettes. The Number......where applicable......rank and name.....as well as the Force......(For George the VI and later Issues)......in which the recipient was serving at the time of the award is engraved on the rim of the medal, often in a variety of styles.
A very nice silver miniature.
