THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE STAR FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE.
While this Medal,in its life, was given for a range of good service in the South African Police Force; many were awarded for acts of particular gallantry.
This Medal is not named and is not a copy. It was made by the 'Official Manufacturer', so Michael tells me up until around 2006; when production ceased.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- Please refer to the Medal Year Book under S.A.42, where you will find it as the Foremost Award Listed.
The Medal was Instituted back in 1979 and ran up until around 2006 when it was overtaken by other awards for our new South Africa.
It is interesting to note that the named awards for Gallantry can fetch up to A Thousand Pounds! In 1989 all references to gallantry were removed where they occured in the original warrant and the award was given to Officers of the General Staff. This was in consequence of the institution of the 1989 version of the South African Police Cross for Bravery. Recipients of this decoration are entitled to the post nominal letters S.O.E. (STELLA OFFICII EGREGII)
As you can see from the photo......This Medal is in absolutely MINT Condition.
At the price this makes for a very nice example. |
