GROUP OF FOUR; LT. POUNDEN
A nice group of four with service in the Boer War leading to service in World War One. As you can see from the Photo; these medals have been nicely remounted for wear. Michael has passed them as being all round in 'Extra Fine' Condition.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- We have full research on this man which indicates that
Trooper 32516 William John POUNDEN served during the Boer War with the 74th (Dublin) Imperial Yeomany. Research done by Winifred Scott confirms his clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. He did NOT get a 'King's'.
In World War One he joined the Natal Light Horse as a Lieutenant on the 1st of September 1914 and served with them until the 28th of February 1915. On his Card it states that he was (Temp) Transfered to the Depot Company, Cape Town on the 9th of March 1915. His Queens is named for the 74th. His Star gives him as Lt. Natal Light Horse and his War and Victory give him simply as Lt. W.J. POUNDEN. The four pages of research are included. |
