E-mail
The "DUKES" of course are the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles of Cape Town fame.
This award only requires the ONE Page of Research from the ABWMV Research Services to confirm the Single Clasp.........CAPE COLONY.
"Quartermaster's Comment":-  To those that may not be in the know.........maybe I should point out that the Duke of Edinburgh that we have here is of course the previous one and NOT our current 'Phil, The Greek'.........even though I understand that he is now around 90 years of age!!!!!
The Medal is impressed.........919     Pte.   J.  RUSSOUW.  D.  OF  E.  OWN.  V.  R.
The medal has no serious edge knocks but is a little off its best........hence a nice price.
The Application is signed off by the then Commanding Officer of the Regiment......Lt-Col. H. Woodhead at Cape Town on the 15th of July 1901.
