This is our last offering of Flashes to the American Armies which fought in the European Theatre.

The 9th Army under General W. Simpson was a late starter and came into being August/September of 1944.
"Quartermaster's Comment":-  This Army was part of the British 21st Army Group under (later) Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery. This was made up of the British 2nd Army...The U.S. 9th Army and also the U.S.15th Army. They crossed the Rhine at Wesel on the 23rd of March 1945. They stopped to allow the Russians to invade Berlin which fell on the 2nd of May.
