MINT PAIR OF CLOTH FLASHES FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE TASK FORCE.
Refer to Colin Owen Nos.F676/7 where he has examples of the Pair for 'Dress Uniform'. As you can see this is a pair for Combat Uniform.
For those of you out there who enjoy items to 'Special Forces' here is a gem.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- After the 'Fox Street Incident' back in 1974 this 'Task Force' came into being. The Police drew Members that had to be Volunteers and over 21 and most importantly......Highly Dedicated and Very Fit.
It has been said that the training course that they went through was the toughest ever devised over a period of 6 Months for any unit in South Africa. They had to pass out and be proficient in Mountaineering, Abseiling, Helicopter Drill, Scuba Diving, Parachuting, and an expert shot with All Firearms. Mike Evert mentions them......See his Page 6, No 01B of his super book on "Parachute Wings and Insignia to Special Forces"
In January of 1983 the Unit moved to their New Headquarters at the Police Training College in Pretoria.
There was always One Team on "Permanent Standby" and a Jet could take them to anywhere in South Africa within two and a half hours.
Michael tells me that this style of Badge was only worn for a very short time. It is the first time that I have handled a pair of Cloth Flashes like this in MINT Condition. A very nice item. |
