As Michael pointed out to me, you can tell by the 'Jump Helmet' that this chap HAS to be a Rhodesian. Of course he could have come from any one of quite a few units who were 'Parabat' Trained. |

This Statuette is a faithful reproduction of the full sized version which still stands in Church Square, Windhoek, Namibia and was placed there, having been cast in Berlin, in about 1910. He is carrying the Standard Model 1896 Model Mauser, which was used extensively by the Boers during the 'Boer War'. This Statuette is Numbered out of a Limited Edition of 100. The Maker, Klaus-Dieter Matzke is a Master Goldsmith and has been casting fine "Animalia" Bronzes for many years now, in the "Cire Perdue" (Lost Wax) tradition, which method is known to date back 5 000 years. Klaus has been sculpting and executing his own works since 1978 and is much sort after.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- I have known Klaus for many years now. His attention to detail is stunning, as I hope that you can pick up from the photos. This Work of Art comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is, I am sure you will agree, most reasonably priced. Do your sums!!!! |
