A HANDBOOK ON WANKIE NATIONAL PARK FOR VISITORS
I am afraid that we are going to have to ask more than the 4/9 on the cover of this 72 page handbook on this Famous Park.
We hate to think of what is left of this Park today.......5 246 Square Miles or 3,363,895 MILLION ACRES.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- I remember visiting this beautiful Park back in around 1966. For my sins I was Chairman of the Howick Branch of the "Friends of Rhodesia Association" and we had raised enough money to buy the Park a New Land Rover.....There was a bit of money left over and we then bought them a winch to go on their new vehicle. So we flew up in a light aircarft to deliver it and spent three days at the Park.....being very well looked after!!!!!
This Book has a host of coloured photos and everything on the animals, flora and forna that you would meet. It was edited by W.V. Brelsford and Published by A.J.Levin of Salisbury. It is in very good condition for its age. There is a full map of the Park to the Centre. It is not dated but there is a picture of the Kariba Dam Wall with work being done to the top.......which might help. As you know Kariba is the largest man-made dam in the world. The Rhodesians really could do it!!!! |
