Owen tells us that these BRONZE Wings were worn by N.C.O.'s in the Transkei Defence Force "Special Forces". 1984 through to 1990.

"Quartermaster's Comment":- When we look back at the odd history that we have had in this part of the world.........The Transkei was at times looked upon as being a good example.........if not the best......of the "Homeland" Defence initiative. Back then........and we must remember that we are now looking back over a Quarter of a Century..........This whole thing was a very busy experiment. Officers had wings of silver........nevertheless even these Bronze ones are nice after 25 years.
