MODERN BRITISH CAP BADGE TO THE BLUES AND ROYALS.
E-mail
This is the updated modern EIIR 'No Bull' Cap Badge to the Second Senior Regiment of Household Cavalry. "Quartermaster's Comment":- In 1661 was formed The Earl of Oxford's Regiment of Horse, then variously they were known as The King's Regiment of Horse, The Royal Regiment of Horse and The Oxford Blues. This last title, the one that stuck, was due to their 'Oxford Blue' uniforms, which were fairly unique, as everyone else was in red!! They were joined by the Ist Dragoons (The Royals) in 1969. The Royals which were the next most senior Regiment of Cavalry in the British Army had also been formed in 1661 as the Tangier Horse. So the amalgamation was harmonious as they were both as old as each other. Note the King Edward Crown for EIIR.
