This is one of the two variants of a Glengarry Badge as was used between 1901 and 1958.

This Fine Scottish Regiment had......for some reason......TWO different Glengarry Badges in use for the period between 1901 and 1958. This one is known as the Short Motto Variant in that the the Battle Honour "ASSAYE" takes up the centre of the badge only and does not spread across the full width.
