BRITISH CAP BADGE TO THE YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT.
This Regiment was named as such in 1881 from the amalgamation of the 65th and 84th of Foot which were stationed in that part of the 'North' Country. The Regiment was sadly disbanded in 1968 at a time when so many units were axed. This badge is very good weight in make. Could well be World War Two Vintage.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- There looks to be a solder repair of sorts to the back at the top of the slide, so we have cut the price a bit to compensate. Otherwise the badge, as you can see from the photo is a nice striking and design. This style of Badge was in service for a VERY long time without a change of design. Note the Coronet of the Duchy of Lancaster and the 'Union' Rose (White and Red for York and Lancaster). The "ROYAL" Tiger covers their service in the East.
