BRITISH CAP BADGE TO THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS WITH KING'S CROWN.
While most people will pass over this badge lightly;it does in fact have a long history. THE ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS, which is today THE ROYAL CORPS OF TRANSPORT started back in 1794 as THE CORPS OF WAGGONERS and held such names as The Royal Wagon Train and the Military Train.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- It came to the name on this badge 'ARMY SERVICE CORPS' in 1889 when the Commissariat and Transport Staff and Corps were amalgamated. This style of badge came into use in 1916 during the Great War and was used until its end in 1918.
