A MORE MODERN STAYBRIGHT TYPE CAP BADGE FOR THE REGIMENT SPRINGS
We did NOT pick this up in Colin Owen's Book. The Badge might have come out after he published.
Dudley Wall has this Regiment as a 'Historically' New One. The Badge that he shows(No. 5 on Page 25) is of a different type of Swan. The Regiment Springs claims descent from 'Regiment Far East Rand' which in turn was raised in January of 1964 in Benoni.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- The Regiment was relocated to Springs and took on its present name in March of 1972. This Badge, as is on offer here is their 'Second' Cap Badge and has pin two fastenings to the rear. The Regiment saw Active Service on Internal Security Duties. This is an attractive Badge which was NOT in use for very long, one would think. Possibly only from around 1996 to 2004. |
