AN AUSTRALIAN WW1 LAPEL/COLLAR BADGE.
E-mail
This is the Collar/Lapel Badge as was issued to Ausralian Troops who were in plain clothes and had returned from duty in the A.I.F.
As was the case in the U.K........'Off Duty' Soldiers and those 'Walking Wounded' needed to wear one of these.......to make sure that they were treated right and did NOT get a White Feather.
"Quartermaster's Comment":- On the back we have the Badges' Number.....which is
84621.
The back is faintly struck with the Maker's Name.......but their location is clear.......it was PERTH in Western Australia.
To the Fore we have ISSUED BY DEPT. OF DEFENCE.......RETURNED FROM ACTIVE SERVICE........To the Centre we have A.I.F. and their Badge.......as you can see from the Photo........A nice World War One Item from "Down Under".
